Pagoda

I shall start this blog by writing about Pagoda, potentially my new favorite breakfast spot. Pagoda is unexpectedly placed on Bayou Road across from Cajun King (a place that has a $5.99 seafood buffet that I will try before I die...yikes?) and a five minute walk from my house. We've gone three Sundays in a row now, not just for the food, but also to be treated like pure gold by Clarence, the beautiful blue-eyed cashier who loves to "spoil us". There is only outside seating but, as luck would have it, the weather has been perfect for three consistent Sundays. The New Orleans community + a harpist + a New Zealand beachfront restaurant = Pagoda.
Initially what I found to be special about Pagoda was the fact that they had FLAT WHITES. Invented in Australia/New Zealand, a flat white is similar to a cafe au lait or a latte, but has a higher proportion of coffee to steamed milk with a velvety consistency (my dream drink). To walk into the Pagoda hut and see "flat white" written in chalk on the menu board confirmed that Pagoda and I would be a match made in brunch heaven. Their menu changes every week and lists about eight options. Try their tacos... you will not be sad you did.
